In this tutorial we will look at the infamous D-rig. This carp fishing rig is killing it in all big carp waters. The D-rig can act more natural when a fish is feeding around it due the ‘D’. You can use this rig on your local pond or some big lake in France! This rig will work for pop up carp rigs or bottom rigs. Raw Carping team member Matt loves this rig.
First of all cut your line to the required length, in this tutorial we are using 8 inches. Get your hook and go through the FRONT of the hook and leave an inch tag end.
Take your tag end and hold it down towards the curve of the hook.
With the main line of the rig, wrap it around the shank of the hook 12 times, then wrap another 2 time back up over the 12 wraps. This is to keep everything nice and neat.
Take your tag end and put your bait screw on. With the tag end, go through the back of the eye, creating a ‘D’. This is the time to set the size of the ‘D’ you want for your bait screw.
With your tag end, carefully melt it down until you get close to the eye of the hook. You should move all the other components that are likely to melt out of the way. Using the lighter push the melted ‘blob’ against the lighter creating a nice ‘blob’.
There you have it, your first D-rig! You should probably go and fish now!
